November 26th – Tuesday Speed Workout – RSVP

Washington Park. Meeting at Denver South High School Parking lot and then heading to the park for a warm up.and staying on the ROAD loop.

WHEN:

This Tuesday, October 1st. We will begin the workout promptly at 6:00AM and 6:00PM.

OBJECTIVE:

2 mile Time Trial! This workout is a great way to see where you stand at this point in your training. Short time trials are a great way to practice the mental side of racing without taxing your body as much as you would racing a half marathon or marathon. Remember to treat this as a race and don’t forget to fuel well during the day and before the workout.

WORKOUT:

We will start with an easy 20-22 minute warmup on the inner road loop in the park (same loop you’ll be running for the time trial), going in a clockwise direction. We’ll work in a set of plyos, skips, lunges, strides, light stretching, and then hit the start line for the time trial! The 2 mile time trial will be run around the asphalt inner-road of the park, following the map below in a clockwise direction. Try to practice smart pacing, starting out slow/conservative for the first half mile and pick it up progressively, hitting it as hard as you can in the final half mile so you can leave it all out there. We will have pen/paper for everyone to write down their times at the finish.

MILEAGE:

PLEASE NOTE: This workout replaces your normally scheduled Tuesday miles. For those members that are scheduled for more miles, it’d be best to tack them on before the workout, or you can also do the extra miles on Wednesday.
