Dave Lowry
Member of Runner's Edge since:
April 2006
Occupation:
Storage Engineer at a distance education company (aka IT Geek).
Hometown:
Tachikawa, Japan - military family. My mom calls me a "happy surprise"; my brother summed me up more simply as "shore-leave".
Why I run:
I run so I can eat more. I love food.
Hobbies (other than running):
Reading, movies, attempting to learn this fascinating/frustrating game called golf.
Favorite place to run:
The Highline Canal.
Favorite race:
Since I have only run one race so far: The Platte River Half Marathon.
Favorite shoe:
My Mizuno running shoes, especially since I lost my flip flops while golfing last week.
Most embarrassing running moment:
In high school, I was racing a teammate at a near sprint for the last mile of the Smoky Hill Invitational. He ended up a stride ahead at the finish. As we were in the queue, he turned around to say "good job", and got sick all over my shoes, socks and shins. I just stood there.
Favorite post-run indulgence:
Usually a Chai Tea and an Einstein's breakfast sandwich.
Where I keep my medals:
In a cigar box in my office.
If I could go on a run with anyone, dead or alive, it would be:
Dave Sanders, Columbine Coach and Teacher.
My biggest fan(s):
My parents
I bet you didn't know:
I have coached a youth summer track team (ages 5-16) for 21 seasons.
