Member of Runner's Edge since:
November 2006
Occupation:
Sales Operations for IBM, recent law school grad
Hometown:
Harrah, Oklahoma
Why I run:
For my sanity and overall fitness, camaraderie and friendships, and of course to indulge in cheese, chocolate, pasta, pizza, Thai food, wine...the list is endless!
Hobbies (other than running):
Reading, discovering new wine, spending time with family, friends, and my two big doggies.
Favorite place to run:
In Colorado, my favorite trails so far are at Chautauqua (no bikes!). Outside of Colorado, I love the trails at Torrey Pines in San Diego (La Jolla) and any run along a beach.
Favorite race:
La Jolla Half; Turkey Trot
Favorite shoe:
Flip flops! My favorite running shoe is the Mizuno Waverider.
Most embarrassing running moment:
During a race one of the local running stores was passing out blue running hats on the course. I was already wearing a hat, so I carried the free one and used it to wipe sweat of my face. At the finish, my friends asked me what had happened. The blue dye from the hat had rubbed off on my face, so I was looking a bit like a smurf!
Favorite post-run indulgence:
An everything bagel w/egg and cheese from Brueggers. Brueggers makes the best bagels in Denver!
Where I keep my medals:
Right now they are in a drawer in the basement, but I'm looking for a better place to display them.
If I could go on a run with anyone, dead or alive, it would be:
Scott, my husband. He was sidelined last year due to a back injury/surgery. I'm hopeful he'll be running with me again soon!
Favorite Runner's Edge Moment:
The weather during my second run with the group was cold, snowy, and a tad icy. I barely knew anyone and was about to call it quits when the sub-4:00 group caught me at an aid station. Ted (aka "the ambassador") introduced me to everyone in the group and the gang made me feel so welcome. Since then I've met so many wonderful people and couldn't imagine not running with you all.
My biggest fan(s):
My husband, who always encourages me to run and has provided race support during numerous races. My Great Danes, Walter and Winston, who know putting on running shoes means they'll likely get their exercise too. They're distance walkers!
I bet you didn't know:
I'm a military brat. My dad was in the Air Force for 20 years. I was born in California and have lived in: Germany; Peru, IN; Hampton, VA; Harrah, Oklahoma; San Diego, CA; and Houston, TX. My mom was born and raised in the Philippines, and I've been fortunate to visit once and see where my mom grew up.
