Runner's Edge of the Rockies

Debbie Elliott

Member of Runner's Edge since:
Fall 2005

Occupation:
Accountant

Hometown:
I grew up in Green Mountain.

Why I run:
To keep in shape and to have more energy.

Hobbies (other than running):
Camping, hiking and cycling

Favorite place to run:
Highline Canal

Favorite race:
Strawberry Shortcut 10K in Glenwood Springs.

Favorite shoe:
Asics Gel Kayano

Most embarrassing running moment:
Nothing really stands out. I have crossed finished lines with some ridiculous limps. One month ago, I was cycling with friends. We were coming to a stop and I pulled my left foot out of the bike clip but decided to lean towards the right. I toppled over on the C470 trail and banged up my leg. Two miles later, I did the same da*n thing.

Favorite post-run indulgence:
Beer and steak.

Where I keep my medals:
On a shelf in our hutch in the family room.

If I could go on a run with anyone, dead or alive, it would be:
I pick Deena Drossin/Kastor, assuming I would also be given the speed to keep up with her.

My biggest fan(s):
The family. Todd, husband and my two boys, Zachary (4) and Ainsley (1). They cheer me on at every single race I have done.

Favorite Runner's Edge Moment:
At the beginning of the Colfax marathon. I really enjoyed the energy before the race and going out together in our pace group. It is a blast doing races with the group and seeing so many familiar faces. I felt like we totally owned the Colfax marathon.

I bet you didn't know:
I became engaged at the finish line of the New Years Resolution 5K at Wash Park on 12/31/03. Todd didn't actually get on his knee or anything. He pretty much just tossed me the ring in the box at the end of our race. It was cool.

Also, I ran the Bolder Boulder when I was 36 weeks pregnant (lovely picture above)
