Runner's Edge of the Rockies

Ned Breslin

Member of Runner's Edge since:
January 2006

Occupation:
Development worker focused on water and sanitation in Africa, Asia and Latin America

Hometown:
My father was nomadic but I generally call Buffalo New York my hometown

Why I run:
Few things give me greater pleasure or put me at such ease!

Hobbies (other than running):
climbing, hiking, camping, kayaking, fly fishing

Favorite place to run:
I have fallen in love with the foothills of Colorado, but in the past I loved running through rural areas of Mozambique (had to watch for pretty nasty snakes)

Favorite race:
London Marathon

Favorite shoe:
Asics Gel Nimbus

Most embarrassing running moment:
Crossing the line at the Cape Town Marathon and vomiting the Coca-Cola that was pretty much the only drink I had on the run - and I hate Coke on a normal day

Favorite post-run indulgence:
Bagel, chocolate milk and a nap

Where I keep my medals:
closet

If I could go on a run with anyone, dead or alive, it would be:
My daughters (sounds boring I know but I love running with them)

My biggest fan(s):
My wife and daughters

Favorite Runner's Edge Moment:
Watching Steve shake his head in horror every time the 3:45 pace group passed the 3:30 pace group on long runs last year.

I bet you didn't know:
I spend a fair amount of time showing people how composting latrines really work, which means (among other things) that I dig out a lot of latrines in Africa (do not believe me - see the photo)
