Spring is definitely upon us and we've got another group favorite lined up for everyone in Lowry/Hilltop. As we get closer to the end of the Spring Training Session (end of May), keep your eyes peeled for E-announcements for the Summer/Fall Session which starts on June 14th, registration (which is not yet open), Early Bird discount, and upcoming events like the Omaha Marathon group road trip. We are also working on a couple of fun social events including a big 5th Year Anniversary party to celebrate all of the successful training Runner's Edge of the Rockies members have enjoyed since 2003! Great Job up in Ft. Collins: Last weekend a bunch of members ran up in Ft. Collins and a few people deserve some special mention: Beth Rouland (Full Marathon PR & Qualified for Boston), Bill Huges (Half Marathon PR), Jennifer Krumenauer (First Full Marathon), Melissa Gibson (Full Marathon PR), Steve Honda (Full Marathon PR), and Sharon Spence (First Full Marathon). Congrats everyone!! Ned & Dave Rock the Collegiate Peaks: Also last weekend, Ned Breslin & Dave Longcope continued their strong ultra/trail training by doing the grueling Collegiate Peaks trail race. Ned ran the 25-miler and Dave finished 12th overall in just his second 50-mile race. Congrats guys!!
Have a great day - Happy running! ~ Coach David
WHERE: Lowry Town Center. We will be meeting in front of the Urban Harvest Cafe, in the Lowry Town Center on the northeast corner of Quebec & E. 2nd Ave. There is plenty of parking in the center of the lot, and please remember to leave the close-in spaces for other patrons. WHEN: This Saturday, May 10th. We will begin the group run promptly at 7:00am . Please arrive by 6:45am to warm-up with some light stretching and hear a quick training tip. ROUTE: This is a fantastic route that winds through the beautiful Lowry Development, before heading into the streets and parks of Hilltop. The route covers a variety of surfaces; primarily asphalt, and some crushed stone, soft dirt trail and a few small sections of concrete. There will be Gatorade/water aid stations along the course every 2-2.5 miles as usual and there is good restroom access too at several points along the run. The route is pretty flat with only 60 feet separating the high/low points, but it does have some gradual rolling in spots and some beautiful views at the high spots of the run. MILEAGE: Please check your individual training schedules. The max the course will be marked to is 20 miles. WEATHER: Click on the icon below for the latest weather reports... |
