PACE GROUP LEADER
4:00 RUNNERS
Laura Hollenbaugh

Few runners have recorded a marathon as their first racing experience. But our sub-4 hour pacer, Laura Hollanbaugh, is among them. With a total of 12 marathons under her belt (Boston included), Laura is one of our most seasoned runners and loves spreading her wealth of knowledge with her pace group.

While sharing this wisdom with others has its obvious attraction, Laura tempers the details in her role as pacer by keeping things lighthearted, welcoming humor in her group in order to keep things relaxed. She describes herself as a "chatty" pace group leader, thriving at helping others make connections within the group. Her greatest pride is in the sense of camaraderie that has developed among the sub-4s - often marked by sarcasm and friendly jabbing here and there!

Laura's approach to distance running is best summed up in her own words, "I believe that in distance running you have a choice. You can pay up front with hard core training or pay during the race. My first race I paid during the race, out of ignorance. Ever since then I've believed in putting the time in to train well. From my NYC marathon training shirt: 'The will to win is not nearly as important as the will to prepare' ".

Laura has plenty to keep her busy outside of running. She's a teacher's aide at a Jeffco Elementary school and also does work as a seamstress. You'll also might find her doing Tae Kwon Do or quilting when there's spare time.
